a family tradition

Angelo Sardo was the founder of our estate. He himself  had inherited a passion and pride for producing the finest  Sicilian extra virgin olive oil.

The tradition started over 100 years ago with Angelo’s father Filippo, who in the early 1900’s created the family business of  producing and selling Extra Virgin Olive oil.

As a young man, Angelo worked beside his father and realised that to guarantee the finest quality oil, he needed to cultivate the olives himself.
In 1974, Angelo, using his knowledge and experience, chose the Chiaramonte Gulfi area. This fertile territory in the province of Ragusa has a perfect Sicilian climate for growing olives and is renowned for the production of fine oils.
It is here he bought a property with 2000 trees that were over 200 years old and then planted more than 5000 more trees himself and established the family’s third olive mill.

Angelo with his wife Santina by his side, was one of the most respected knowledgeable pioneers of the extra virgin olive oil production in Sicily.

The Legacy Continues today

Angelo’s son Filippo who has inherited the same strong spirit and passion from his father is continuing the philosophy: “QUALITY COMES FIRST”
 Together with his wife Marcelle, they are now using the family’s secrets and knowledge which is the essence behind the production of our premium extra virgin olive oil .
